JOIN THE AUSTIN AMFT BOARD

Austin AMFT members and colleagues, your organization is looking for some new faces to join the board of directors for the upcoming 2023-2024 term. Our goal is to continue providing the excellent programming and quality support that has been the cornerstone of our group.

President-Elect

President-elect shall serve a term of one (1) year and shall succeed to the office of President. President-elect shall be Clinical Member or Associate with a reasonable expectation of completing Clinical Member status before completion of the one (1) year term. In order to succeed to the President’s position, the President-elect must be Clinical Member.

  • Respond in a timely manner (24-48 hrs) to member or community questions sent via email to AAMFT or through the website of AAMFT
  • Lead the introduction session for attendees and speakers at monthly CEU events
  • In the absence of President, President-elect performs the duty of President, including running the board meeting
  • Keep possession of AAMFT marketing materials (i.e. t-shirts, etc.) throughout the year for the organization’s special events


outreach director

The Outreach Director shall serve a term of two (2) years.

  • Facilitate AAMFT’s social media presence
  • Help cultivate new members through programming that may include welcoming people at chapter meetings or mentorship programs
  • Educate the non-profit sector on the value of hiring LMFTs
  • Coordinate activities as appropriate with the PR Director


secretary

Secretary shall serve a term of two (2) years.

  • Take notes during the monthly board meetings and/or retreats and sends out minutes from these meetings to all board members within one week following the meeting date.
  • Create and print sign-up sheets, name tags, Certificates of Attendance, and Speaker Evaluations for in-person meetings
  • Upload records of these sheets and certificates in the AAMFT Google drive within one week following the event date
  • Bring box with appropriate event administrative materials to all AAMFT events (i.e. pens, name tags, “ green chips” used for luncheon, credit card processing devices, marketing documents, all paper documents pertinent to the event, etc.)
  • Assist at registration table for monthly luncheon events
  • Aid members and community requests regarding online registration for events
  • Work with Public Relations Director to create and maintain online registration information and access to events
  • Work with Treasurer to assist with appropriate refund requests using online financial programs


elections & engagement Committee

The members of the Elections and Engagement Committee shall serve a term of three (3) years.

  • Engage new and continued members at meetings and events and execute the election process in the fall of each year (i.e. welcoming meeting attendees, encouraging membership, informing attendees about upcoming events, opportunities, and elections, etc.)
  • Prepare a slate containing at least one nominee for each position and determine the eligibility and willingness of each nominee to stand for election
  • Ballots shall be counted by the Elections and Engagement committee, as well as announced at the following Board meeting and CEU event

student representative

The Student Representative shall serve a one (1) year term.

Student Representative shall ​continue ​in ​their ​position on the board ​after ​graduation until the ​completion of their term ​as ​long ​as ​s​/he is in good standing.

  • Welcome meeting attendees, inform attendees about upcoming events, opportunities and elections, and encourages membership (especially students)
  • Inform local universities about AAMFT membership, events, and benefits of being involved in the organization
  • Help organize, attend, and promote student-focused events (i.e. Student/Associate – Supervisor Meet & Greet events)
  • Assist other board members in performing roles and responsibilities as needed


MEMBER-AT-LARGE

The Member-at-Large shall serve a one (1) year term.

  • Welcome meeting attendees, encourage membership, and inform attendees about upcoming events, opportunities and elections
  • Assist at registration table for monthly luncheon events
  • Assist other board members in performing roles and responsibilities as needed
