      PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION

      This presentation will cover counseling ethics regarding technology and how they apply to your business. We will also cover a few different EHRs, the laws governing personal health information (PHI), how to protect your practice from technology and data breaches, artificial intelligence and how it is being used currently, and vignettes about what you would do in certain telehealth ethical scenarios.

      BIOGRAPHY

      Lindsey Vickers, MPH, MA is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Susan Gonzales, LPC-S, LMFT-S, specializing in trauma, couples, sex therapy, and equine assisted psychotherapy. Lindsey is also currently a project manager and business analyst for software systems at Texas State University. Lindsey has been in the software and technology industry for over sixteen years working for health care and higher education companies implementing large software systems complying with HIPAA, HITECH, and FERPA laws. Lindsey loves the dichotomy in her current roles of therapist and software project manager and is passionate about the intersection of counseling, technology, and business consulting.


      This presentation is designed to be useful for all levels of training and experience.
